"Go home” was a grounding mantra, to anchor in the home within myself, a spiritual sense of home at a time when I was moving and shifting. I pressed a thick slab of clay against a captivating black locust tree outside of the studio. I drew the words into the clay mold with a stray studio pencil and cast with colored plaster.
The statement, “Go Home” also considers how our environment can be violated in its relationship with humans. Referencing the carvings people make into trees, I considered the disrespect and scarring, and imagined what the tree would say to stop our destruction.
